Descripción del servicio

Background The Graston Technique® was inspired when David Graston (a tool and die maker) sustained a knee injury during a waterskiing accident in 1987. Three ligaments were ruptured, requiring extensive surgical repair. The resultant scar tissue caused unresolvable range of motion limitations and strength deficits preventing full rehabilitation. Having failed traditional physical therapy and orthopedic management he began using self cross friction massage (as described by Cyriax). The extensive manual work caused fatigue in his hands and he subsequently developed stainless steel tools to assist in the application of myofascial work on scar tissue. Later, through research at Ball Memorial Hospital and Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, the Graston Technique was developed as an effective rehabilitation program for a wide variety of diagnoses and musculoskeletal injuries. What is Graston®? Graston Technique® uses instruments to achieve the effects and benefits of soft tissue mobilization. With Graston®, there are specifically designed stainless steel instruments that a therapist uses to aid in finding an treating soft tissue problems. It is an evidence-based method of IASTM (instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization) that is used in combination with rehabilitative exercises to improve musculoskeletal function. How is Graston Technique® Applied? We will begin your session with gentle massage so we can evaluate and treat accordingly with the Graston Technique. Graston Technique is administered in multiple directions in order to break up the soft tissue lesion/scar tissue in all fascial planes. As the GT instruments are applied, a “vibratory” sensation is felt through the tool. You will simultaneously experience this sensation while the tool traverses the area being treated. When Is Graston® a Treatment Option? Patients with the following diagnoses make excellent candidates for this type of treatment: -Tendinopathies (all the conditions that end in -osis or -itis, such as Achilles tendinitis, medial/lateral epicondylitis and greater trochanteric bursitis) -Fascial syndromes (such as trigger finger, plantar fasciitis, ITB syndrome) -Ligament pain syndromes (such as ankle sprains or other types of sprains) -Edema/swelling reduction -Post-surgical or traumatic scars/adhesions -Entrapment syndromes (carpal/tarsal tunnel This technique is conducted in concert with a rehabilitation regimen designed to restore you to your pre-injury level of activity.

Política de cancelación

CANCELLATION POLICY We understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. Business meetings, project deadlines, flight delays, car problems, snowstorms, and illness are just a few reasons why one might consider canceling an appointment. In our desire to be effective and fair to all of our clients and out of consideration for our therapists’ time, we have adopted the following policies: • 48 hour advance notice is required when cancelling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment. If you are unable to give us 48 hours advance notice you will be charged the full amount of your appointment. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment. • No-shows: Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show”. They will be charged $45 for their “missed” appointment and future service will be denied until payment is made. • Arriving late Appointment times have been arranged specifically for you. If you arrive late your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, your therapist will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other customers, please plan accordingly and be on time. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SERVING YOU.
